Digital Nomad Interview with Gianira

Who are you, where are you from and what do you do?

My name is Gianira and I’m from Peru. Currently I’m a full-time traveler and I share all my experiences and tips around the world through my social media accounts. I’m also doing an online Master Degree in Business Administration.

How did you decide to visit Vlore, Albania

I’m traveling around the world and my goal now is to visit every country that I can. I chose Vlore as a base house in Albania for a month because it serves as a gateway to explore other beautiful destinations along the Albanian Riviera, including Dhermi, Himara, and Saranda. These areas offer more stunning beaches, historic sites, and natural beauty. Also, it is the perfect city to stay for a long term and have a routine.

What is a typical day/week look like being a digital nomad in Vlore?

As a morning person, I love to wake up early and go for a run or to exercise outside. The views are stunning all day, but in the morning is even better because everywhere is almost empty. Then I come back to the hotel to eat some breakfast and I go out to explore one of the many beaches around. During the afternoon I take some classes and do the homework that I have for that day.

What surprised you about Vlore

Vlore offers more than just beaches. The city is surrounded by diverse natural landscapes, including mountains, forests, and national parks. The contrast between the coastal and inland areas can be surprising.

Do you have recommendations for anyone travelling to Albania?

Traveling as a female in Albania can be a safe and enjoyable experience. Learn a few basic Albanian phrases or expressions, as this can go a long way in gaining respect and making connections with locals. Albanians appreciate when visitors make an effort to understand their culture and language. Albania can be a welcoming and safe destination for female travelers. By respecting local customs and using common-sense precautions, you can have a rewarding experience exploring this beautiful country.
