Digital Nomad Interview with Nancy

Who are you, where are you from and what do you do?

I am Nancy, and I am from the United States of America – born and raised in Chicago, but have lived in Los Angeles for 8 years. I now am living the nomad life for the last 3 years – so currently have no home base. As an entrepreneur, I wear many hats – one of them is a Travel and Lifestyle Blogger at @fancynancista – 🙂

How did you decide to visit Vlore, Albania

Albania wasn’t initially on my travel radar until a friend invited me to visit last year. The beauty of the country took me by surprise, especially in Berat where I spent most of my time. Following some recommendations, I explored the coastal area starting with Vlore. Even with just a few nights, I fell in love with the place. Now, this year, I deliberately returned to Vlore and seized a fantastic volunteering opportunity. Being close to the coast and relishing the daily sea views is incredible, not to mention the breathtaking beaches I missed out on during my last visit.

What is a typical day/week look like being a digital nomad in Vlore?

Every day is different for me! I fortunately work for myself, so I get to choose my own schedule – which I prefer. One day I can decide to work on things the whole day and the next day I can decide I want to take a day off to explore the city I’m in! Depends on my mood and what I want to do. 🙂

What surprised you about Vlore

I was surprised about the stunning beaches they have – very blue water!

Do you have recommendations for anyone travelling to Albania?

Keep an open mind and expect the unexpected! Albania is a hidden gem that will pleasantly surprise you. It’s underrated now, but I’m sure it’ll gain more popularity. Rent a car and explore key cities like Tirana, Berat, Vlore, Sarande, and more. Transportation might not be perfect, but each city has its unique charm—definitely worth the adventure!
